FORM IS FUNCTION: DESIGNED TO DEFINE A SENSE OF PLACE
Layer can be stratified — overlapped in hybrid lit and unlit arrays — mixing color, shape, and size to provide the necessary acoustics and lighting and to add structure to the overall architectural environment. Layer’s thin profile naturally introduces a foreground and middle ground hierarchy, making it functional for creating a sense of place while solving lighting and acoustic needs.
Designers can apply Layer’s three shapes directionally and gesturally. Its form can serve as an implicit ceiling system or arrayed pendant luminaire and as a gradient of application between the two. Visual tension is easier to control with Layer, so it’s delightful to apply.
