Linear 9: Compact and Effective

Dialing Into the New Addition to the Linear Family

Linear 9: Small Radius

Linear 9: Large Radius

INTRODUCTION

Linear 9 is the newest, and thinnest, addition to the Sabin Linear product family, boasting a width of 9mm as its name implies. Linear 9 has an aluminum extrusion spine for straightness and structure, allowing for wider spans with two fixed suspension points per unit.

Linear 9 is available in two visually distinct styles, Linear 9 Small Radius and Linear 9 Large Radius, with the intent that designers and architects can have more flexibility depending on the desired design expression.

Its uncommonly narrow width allows for a few key advantages. Linear 9 units can align very close together in compact arrays, which can hide unwanted ceiling exposure and alleviate aesthetic pain points like wires and piping. Due to its form and sewn construction, Linear 9 can also be manufactured at an outstandingly competitive cost.

LINEAR 9: small radius

Linear 9 Small Radius has a 9mm radius along the corners. This version of Linear 9 is strongly rectilinear; the eye ultimately perceives this small radius as a corner. It has a refined character but sets in the visual background.

This design language fits well in parallel arrays that strongly compliments other Sabin Linear products. For example, Linear 9 Small Radius works well in arrays perpendicular to Linear 60, with tight on-center spacing, and in rectangular linear arrays, with array-embedded 1x4 Block lit elements.

LINEAR 9: LARGE radius

Linear 9 Large Radius has a 70mm radius along the corners, creating a curved arc, rather than a perceived corner. This design language softens the rectilinear character, and is useful in certain schemes and arrays, giving designers a useful point of control in the product design.

Linear 9 Large Radius, like Linear 9 Small Radius, also strongly compliments other Sabin Linear products. Linear 9 Large Radius and Quad intentionally share a common corner radius. These two products in particular pair well together in short rectangular linear arrays.

How to determine if LINEAR 9 OR LINEAR 27 should be used

Linear 9 is a logical, economical linear baffle. For many projects, Linear 9 offers a well-balanced and appropriate acoustic and design solution. Linear 27 uses more material, and has more acoustic impact per unit, but costs more than Linear 9. Depending on the visual design intent, it may make sense to use Linear 9 with tighter on-center spacing than would be used for Linear 27.

Linear 9 is available in individual units in lengths up to 2880mm (nearly 9.5 ft).

Linear 9 is available in 9mm PET Felt color options, but without the use of trim. If trim is a priority, use Linear 27.

Linear 9 uses fixed mounting points. Use Linear 27 if a design calls for mounting points that can be repositioned.
